Taos Pueblo - A World Heritage Site. The community of 150—about 21/2 miles north of the Plaza forms a world of its own. The northernmost of New Mexico’s 19 pueblos, it has been the home of the Tiwa tribes for more than 900 years. The Taos Pueblo is the oldest continuously and presently occupied pueblo in the United States. 505.758.8626 St. Francis Church - The Church of Saint Francis of Assisi was built in 1772 and is one of the southwest's most photographed, painted and famous churches. Located in the Ranchos de Taos Plaza. It is located approximately 5 miles south of the Kachina Lodge. The feast of St. Francis is celebrated annually on October 4th and the church is always open to respectful visitors.
