Best Western Kachina Lodge Owners and History
We are in Taos, New Mexico in the red willow land of enchantment. Many people say that Taos is the soul of the Southwest because for many years people of being dominantly populated by people of the three cultures of Native American Indians, Hispanics and Anglo Americans.
The above setting has inspired the site plan, architecture and ambience of the Best Western Kachina Lodge and Meetings Center. For instance the fine dining room chandeliers with their squash blossom shapes depict the Indian custom of serving a visitor squash-blossom flower soup to welcome the visitor as being the birth of a new friend.
The hotel is a 118 unit full service hotel on 7 ½ acres in the outer part of the Taos Historical district which feature the famous Taos Historical Plaza.

The hotel was built by Edwin C. Lineberry and his wife Duane Van Vechten Lineberry in 1960. Duane Lineberry passed on in 1977 and Mr. Edwin C. Lineberry, passed on July 28, 2002. For the past few years the property has been owned and operated by W. Dean Koop and Sally M. Koop. They, as the best of friends with Edwin C. Lineberry and Novella Lineberry, his loving and caring wife, have taken special care to maintain the original features of the motel style hotel.
The Best Western Kachina Lodge & Meetings Center is a landmark in Taos, New Mexico. Edwin C. Lineberry and his wife Duane Lineberry designed the architecture, custom lighting and extensive detailing/carving seen about the lobby, dining areas and paintings art gallery. The Kiva coffee shop features a beautifully designed and carved totem pole.

This full service property has a large heated pool, hot "whirlpool" room, Native American dancing nightly May - October, meeting facilities and a quality art collection.
Authenticity has been preserved throughout the property. The ambience of the Southwest is reflected throughout with the "Welcome Home" Taos blue trim.
